The Feasibility of Veganism

There is a great misconception that having a vegan diet means having a diet based on quinoa and tofu alone that some appointed person would have created to make it almost impossible to follow. Being a vegan simply means to not feel superior to the animals, which implies not to consume any product derived from animal or its exploitation. When considering food, it simply means giving up meat, fish, dairy products, eggs and honey. Of course, the vegan way of life involves a certain culinary inventiveness, but it does not mean sadness frustration when it comes to food. You should not feel deprived in anyway shape or form otherwise you will only bring unhappiness to your life.  Fruits, vegetables, cereals, white breads, pasta (without eggs), semolina, tea, coffee, chocolate, nuts, lentils and other seeds … the choices are very vast, and Nadine Gourkow has many ways of putting her ingredients together to ensure that she maintains her vegan lifestyle whiles getting the best of her food choices.

On Mondays…

After a crunchy walnut granola with passion fruit to start the week off, Nadine will take out her light strawberry quinoa salad flavored with apple cider vinegar and avocado oil. At around 4 pm, she will take her tea, there is a little gourmet break: a green juice made from fresh spinach leaves, banana, kiwi and coconut water. For dinner, she will take inspiration from highly renown chefs and concoct a spicy green tomato soup. And because it is Monday and she needs comfort to sustain her through the week, she falls for a slice of soft cake with coconut powder.

On Tuesdays…

Given the fact that she might be a bit in a hurry, she will opt for an energy snack which is simple and convenient as a take-out option. Her morning breakfast will consist of oatmeal, acai berries, cinnamon and dried cranberry balls to replenish her protein and boost her tone. At lunchtime she will enjoy a tartare of tomatoes, zucchini, white onions and peppers, which is slightly raised with pistachio oil, coriander and chives. She will treat herself at some point during the day to a little small candy, a creamy juice of cherry tomatoes, strawberries, watermelons and aloe vera. At dinner, her spouse is impressed with a Thai potato curry, that would be ready in only fifteen minutes.

On Wednesdays…

She will begin her day with a fresh mango salad with banana and white grapes which she uses violet syrup to perfume her salad and add flavor to it. Finally, regardless of the season, she willpermit herself to add raspberries and melon, as long as shedoes not forget the lemon juice and the two sprigs of mint for an addition of flavor. For lunch, there’s nothing better than to take off for Thailand: she will enjoy a zucchini stuffed with Thai rice, peanuts and coriander pesto. To taste it, it is pear juice, fennel and spinach. She will always keep the pear skin if it is organic. Nadine ends the day with a roasted cauliflower, cooked with fruity olive oil, paprika and fleur de sel.

On Thursdays…

She wakes up a little bit earlier in order to cook her golden milk, turmeric, coconut oil and ground pepper in a saucepan for breakfast. After savoring the lentils and kale with garlic cream and yellow carrot for lunch, she regains strength by serving herself a tonic juice of carrot, apple, orange and banana. On Thursday evenings she has a salad of white beans with onions on the menu. These are easy and healthy recipes that will seduce the taste buds every healthy bight at a time.

On Fridays…

For breakfast, she gains strength with this bread with nuts recipe, dried bananas and cranberries. She throws everything into the oven and adds a little fig jam for an even more rich meal. At lunchtime, she will enjoy rice noodles sautéed with crunchy vegetables and fresh ginger. A sweet and tasty recipe that anyonewould enjoy as a quick fresh snack would be a BroccoLeaf juice, banana, pineapple and coconut water.

From Monday until Friday Nadine ensures to maintain this strict budget in order to get the best out of her vegan experience. Though Saturdays and Sundays are more flexible she remains consistent with the lifestyle.
